RRC to Hold Public Hearings for Comments on Proposed Amendments to Water Protection & Waste Management Rules
August 23, 2024On Thursday, August 15th, the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) voted to publish for public comment proposed amendments that are critical to updating the agency’s rules regulating waste management facilities. In addition to the opportunity to submit written comments during the public comment period, which began August 16th and extends to September 30th, the RRC will host two public comment hearings on the proposed rules.
- At 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, the RRC will hold an in-person hearing in Room 1.111 of the William B. Travis Building, 1701 N. Congress in Austin. Individuals who plan to provide verbal comments at the public hearing may register to speak upon arrival.
- At 12 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, the RRC will hold a virtual hearing using an internet meeting service. Individuals who plan to participate in the hearing by providing verbal comments must register in advance by submitting the following information to the RRC Rules Coordinator at [email protected]:
- request to provide verbal comment,
- name, title, affiliation, and
- contact information to include email address and daytime telephone number.
Registration must be received by 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Individuals who do not plan to provide verbal comments during the hearing may view the virtual hearing using the AdminMonitor link below.
The first part of each hearing will consist of a brief overview by RRC staff regarding the proposed rule amendments. The second part of the hearing will consist of the RRC listening to public comments on the proposed rule amendments.
